Web-Based Medical Information Systems
Overview
MDWeb is an Web-based Database Application Platform that can be used to create low-cost, reliable Information Systems for the healthcare industry. At present it is limited to "Registry" type platforms focusing on easy data entry, high quality data validation and low maintenance. Future work will allow the development of a full featured information system supporting chronic disease care. It will support integration with existing generic electronic clinical record or integration suites. The platform is built from the ground up with consideration for high data quality, security and safety assurance suitable for life-critical or sensitive data. It is designed to be easy to use and setup without in-depth knowledge of programming or web development.
This type of product is called a "Platform as a Service". It sits between an "off-the-shelf" product, and a full custom designed and built solution, with best of both worlds: low cost, flexibile, reliable.

- Validation rules are configurable at multiple levels and validation is supported at data entry, processing and storage into database. Validation is therefore consistent regardless of source of data (eg user-entered, imported, API)
- Low bandwidth requirement – ideal for slow internet access and obsolete computers found in the public health system.
- Compatibility with defunct non-compliant browsers (IE7-9) is available (IE6 support is discontinued).
- SQL-based Reporting engine, supports advanced user-defined parameterised reports. (Assistance with Report design available).
Developed using the industry standard Microsoft® stack (ASP.Net, SQL Server). Future proof, robust and powerful.
User Account self-service, configuration, Reporting and Application setup modules are generic and independent of the database application.
